  one of the things i certainly noticed as a jw, and even during the time i was in bethel, was the complexities of reporting "truth.".

  beginning with an observation on a personal level, i consider myself an honest person.

  but something happened along the way, beginning when i pioneered.

  Factfinder: You may be an exception to the rule. You speak as though you had honorable intentions when you were an active JW and that is good.

  I speak from present day experience.

  For the most part, the view has always been that if you are a low hour publisher, you are viewed as weak! Nobody wants you as a friend. Bottomline!

  To get out of the stigma of 'weak', a publisher needs a minimum of above average hours and then some. Then he is accepted. Sad but true!

  Factfinder: I did not want to climb any ladder! I was not interested in getting a title. I was not interested in recognition.

  Truth is, JW world does not want you if that is your mind set. Forget what Jehovah thinks! It is what the WTBTS and its' GB think and say.

  Factfinder: But in this thread and in others I keep reading about how people were dishonest even while they were witnesses, some being pioneers and elders, bethelites and cong secretary. And I wonder-how honest are these people? If they saw nothing wrong with lying while they were witnesses, how honest would they be now?

  Speaking for myself and for my fellow posters, we were/are a product of our JW environment. In other words, if Mother (WTBTS) wants 15 hours a month from me in order for me to keep the status quo (privileges in the congregation), then it is 15 hours Mother is going to get, by hook or by crook. That is how Mother has brought us up!

  It has often been said, that juvenile children are a product of how they were brought up by their parents! I guess you can say Mother has demonstrated poor parenting skills in the past, and IMO still does!

  Factfinder: about the fs hours published as 1.5 billion. Even if its just half that-its a lot of time preaching!

  It is a misrepresentation, blown out of proportion, a padded number by the so called 'Faithful and Discreet Slave'.

  1/2 of 1.5 billion is generous. I know of car groups of up to 7 adult publishers making RVs on a given morning, with only 1 maybe 2 calls being made on persons who would rather you not come by anymore or are not at home. Some publishers never get out of the vehicle the whole morning. Yet up to 14 hours maybe more are counted. It is like Gayle says....

  "any arrangement of "counting time" in any which way, in doing any "good" thing or a right thing is going counter to what is right." Soo True!

  It is find well and good that someone would go out of his way and spend say, Saturday or Sunday morning to talk to someone about the Bible and God. But what is the motivating factor? In a word ....................RECOGNITION! You are not going to climb the ladder of JW World being a less than average hour publisher.

  A less than average hour publisher is considered a weakling, a misfit! SAD!

  Factfinder, if you've been in the 'Truth' for any length of time you know the above is fact!

  So what do you do? The JW system of counting time forces you to fudge your numbers. Why? To make you look good. We all want to look good.

  The expression'Do The Math' is a fallacy with repect to the WTBTS and its' collection of statistics!

  The phrase 'Numbers Don't Lie' as well cannot be used to add authenticity to their figures.

  The numbers of the WTBTS cannot be relied upon for accuracy. The fact is their numbers are indeed greatly inflated.

  For example the 1,557,788,344 total hours that is claimed was spent in field service during the 2010 service year is abundantly exaggerated by the publishers and the leadership know it. One half of that time was spent at a 'coffee shop' alone. Then you add the idle chat time that is spent after meeting for field service. We are lucky if the first door we knock at is 10:15 a.m. and that is with field service starting at 9:00 a.m. Meeting for F/S is meant to last 15 to 20 minutes and out the door! So when we end field service, at say 11:30 or 12:00 noon we have really only spent at best 1 hour in the actual door to door activity.

  True is the Proverb: "There are six things that Jehovah does hate; yes, seven are things detestable to his soul: .........a false tongue" (Prov 6:16)

  Bottom line: The Annual Report is a false report put out by the WTBTS and they know it!

  Factfinder: In my experience those down playing their actual time in F/S were and have been a minority. Yeah, I may have been a party to these inflated and false reports but I'm not loosing sleep over it. The collection of most of these numbers is nonsense!

  When I was younger, there were 2 elder families that sat on opposite sides of the hall.I went to that congregation for 10 years and never saw the wives ever talk to each other or even look at each other.Imagine the energy that took, wasted energy.

  Currently there is bad blood among individual JW members and between entire families in the 100,000+ congregations. It is hidden behind fake smiles and hipocrisy. That is perhaps the main reason why so many JWs transfer from one congregation to another. There are numerous personally clashes in our hall as well......................today! Many times in plain site!

  WTBTS needs to work out the disharmony the exists among its' many members before they write articles telling the world how to pursue peace.

  Blondie, you always hit the nail on the head so to speak with your comments and research.

  United, what united? JW families are falling apart. Like anywhere else, many JW marriages are ending up in divorce. Two thirds of JW youth, if not more, want nothing to do with the WTBTS.

  This sad excuse of a religion has no freedom to speak on the subject of pursuing peace.

  In my congregation there are families (husbands and wives) that sit on opposite sides of the hall, seriously, and others that have gone through a divorce and others that are on the verge of divorce.

  JWS UNITED! WHAT A JOKE.

  Could The Watchtower and Awake Collapse?

  this is not a prophesy, folks, but rather a train of thought to pursue about the organization, especially in light of its recent legal problems.. could the magazines collapse?

  the watchtower is published in 188 languages?

  and the awake a rather huge number as well?.

  You can put the public edition of the Watchtower and Awake in the class of junk mail.

  Though October 2011 Awake states it has an average printing of 39,913,000 and the Watchtower is 42,162,000; it is only a very low percentage of JWs that actually read them. Even far fewer of the general public that does.

  What a waste of paper! Me thinks the WTBTS needs to think more green and go paperless (literally and close down the WT writing dept) if anything else for the sake of the evironment. My guess is that it will.

  Did you have any Elders CO's/DO's that were "Hung up" on certain things????

  we had an elder that was hung up on mens haircuts he had a real thing about how short mens hair should be and even told one bro off for parting his hair down the middle.. even told one bro to shave off his sideburns.. a c.o who was paronoid about sound always telling the bro in charge off.. .

  a d.o who orded the attendants to remove crying babys from assemblys on more than a few occations...hans hubler for those that know him..

  w89 11/1 p. 30 the elders in one congregation went “beyond the things that are written”

  Over the years, I wonder in how many of the other 100,000+ congregations the Elders have gone "beyond the things that are written" on far more harmful and serious matters where they have injured and abused individual members of the R & F!

  at present all eyes are focused on europe and us dollar strengthens but once the european mess is dealt with, with whatever the outcome, the focus will return on us debt and you can bet your dollar the us dollar will drop.

  you cant have a red blood cell treatment, but you could have a haemoglobin treatment, haemoglobin is a conscience matter.
